How Is Hope House Funded?

A Place to Call Home For Life
At Hope House, we care for kids and adults with profound intellectual disabilities by giving them what every human being deserves: a home, a family, and a place to belong for life.
We are a state-licensed and approved foster care home, but we are so much more than that. When children in our care age out of the foster system,
Hope House becomes their forever home. That means we continue to provide the services, care, and support they need not just for a few years, but for the rest of their lives.
How is Hope House Funded?
We do receive some state funding, but it only covers the bare minimum.
For example, our adult program receives funding based on a direct care worker wage set by the State of $10.60/hour, which covers less than 52% of what it actually costs to provide that care. And that only accounts for direct care, not shelter, food, electricity, gas, transportation, nursing, case management, medical appointments, or staff training.
Every resident at Hope House requires over 2,184 hours of direct care per year. In total, our team provides more than 100,000 hours of direct care annually, and our staff receives over 125 full days’ worth of training every year to meet the needs of those we serve. We also spend over $100,000 each year on groceries and supplies to ensure our residents are well-fed and cared for.
Hope House currently employs around
70–76 staff members, including
60-64 direct care staff who operate on three shifts daily to ensure 24/7 care and support. We operate five homes and provide a permanent family and safe environment for nearly 50 residents. And, we are still growing to meet the needs of the intellectually disabled community.

Why Is Your
Support Needed?
Put simply: The state pays for survival, you help us provide life.
Your financial support fills the gap between what’s required and what’s right.
When you support Hope House, you make it possible to:
- Offer loving, stable homes for kids and adults with disabilities
- Hire and retain qualified, compassionate caregivers
- Feed, clothe, and transport our residents
- Handle daily medical and dental visits (which average over 1,300 staff hours each year)
- Train staff and ensure compliance with strict safety and care regulations
- Grow our programs to serve more people who would otherwise be forgotten
Your gift makes a difference far beyond the dollars
It builds a world where people with profound disabilities are not warehoused, but welcomed.
Not institutionalized, but embraced as family.
Hope House is not just a place.
It's a promise.
A promise that every life matters,
no matter how complex the needs.
